EXHIBITION – « Alors
ma poule! » "Now then chick!" |
| |
Some would say that Gilles and Ruth de Latude were
clutching at straws when they labelled their wine
« Les 3 Poules
».
However, they persist in a feathery approach to the
Easter weekend when they join up with Margot Tardieu,
artist and creator of a hilarious brood of “papier
mâché” hens.
The chicks appear to cluck and cackle be plucked,
dressed and trussed up in an extraordinary range of
multicoloured plumage that’s a feast for the
eye and will knock the stuffing out of any visitor.
Alongside the poultry, Gilles and Ruth will be presenting
the 2007 vintage of their award winning wines.

TOP 100 - 2007 - Les 3 Poules
at 2007 London International Wine and Spirit Fair |
|
| |
The Top
100 Vins de Pays Competition
brings together all the Vins de Pays wines available
on the UK market and presents them to an impartial
and highly qualified jury of tasters who, through
rigorous blind tasting and deliberation, select the
Top 100 wines.
A trophy is awarded for each category of the best
White, Rosé and Red of show.
This year over a staggering 1,500 bottles were tasted
and ‘Les 3 Poules’
Cabernet Franc 2006 vintage was selected.
|
|
| |
 |
Gilles
and Ruth say:
“This is without doubt one of the most important
competitions to enter. To have a wine selected is tremendously
encouraging and a fantastic reward for all Gilles’
hard work in the vineyard and cellar.
As the “Top 100”
is so renowned, and competition fierce, being selected
increases the reputation of our wines and will hopefully
bring in new customers, and it’s a terrific bonus
to our faithful existing clients who work hard to promote
‘Les 3 Poules’.
Winning the Trophy for the
best Cabernet Franc in 2004 definitely
launched ‘Les 3 Poules’ and we are delighted
to have been selected again this year.” |

The Cabernet Franc Trophy was presented to Gilles
and Ruth de Latude in London on May 17 2005. More... |

PROWEIN – International
Wine Fair, Dusseldorf, March 2007 |
|
| |
This year ‘Les 3
Poules’ were at Prowein
in Dusseldorf.
This is the second largest international wine fair,
with 4,000 exhibitors from all over the world. There
were record takings on the door with some 32,000 trade
visitors, compared with 28,000 in 2005, from 43 countries.
Gilles and Ruth were on the newly created “Sud
de France”
stand which now groups together all wines from the
Languedoc Roussillon.
The fair was a huge success. The ‘Les
3 Poules’ label
had a fantastic impact and attracted several buyers
who found the concept and quality of the wines amazing.
Gilles and Ruth were delighted and two new German
accounts were opened during the fair. It was also
an opportunity to meet up again with regular customers
from England, Ireland, France and Switzerland, who
were enthusiastic about the latest 2006 vintages.

2006 - L’Union des Œnologues
de France award Prix d'Excellence to La Mère Poule
|
|
| |
The 24th Vinalies
Nationales was held on June 1 2006. This event is organised
by L’Union des
Œnologues de France (UE
de France), the French professional body of oenologists.
Their expertise covers a wide range of subjects related
to wine-making, vineyard counselling and wine tasting. |
| |
Each year during the Vinalies Nationales they taste
wines from the many wine producing areas of France and
award honours.
At the Vinalies
Nationales
held on June 1 2006, “La
Mère Poule 2003”,
was awarded Prix
d'Excellence
– a silver medal. La Mère Poule is the
top of “Les 3 Poules” range and is a subtle
blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah aged in
oak barrels.
|
|
| |
Only five thousand bottles
of this exceptional wine are produced each year and
much love and care is poured into the wine. It’s
special and unique, – a wine to save at the back
of the wine rack for celebrations.

DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS 2006
Les 3 Poules win two awards at the
world's most influential and respected wine competition
– May 2006 |
| |
|
Now in its third year, the Decanter
World Wine Awards
is a global competition whose aim is to provide credible
recommendations for today's wine consumer. The Awards
reflect regional styles, celebrate diversity, promote
value for money, and highlight quality.
Decanter
enlisted some of the world's most respected
experts to head up the regional panels. Each has been
chosen for his/her specialist knowledge of a specified
area and worked with a team of judges also chosen for
their in-depth knowledge. A thorough understanding of
a regional style is crucial for recognising outstanding
quality rather than simply rewarding wines crafted specifically
as 'competition' wines.
|
|
| |
We are delighted to announce that wine Les
3 Poules
from Baronnie de Bourgade won two awards at the competition.
Our Rosé
Grenache 2005
was awarded Bronze medal and the Cabernet
Franc 2005
won a Commended Medal. With over 6,300 wines in the
competition, this is a magnificent achievement.
Following these awards Gilles and Ruth were invited
to a special lunch held at Château Rives-Blanques
near Limoux.
|
|
| |
At the event, Steven
Spurrier,
guest of honour
and consultant editor of Decanter Magazine, tasted
a range of wines from six selected Languedocian vineyards.
His editorial in the October 2006 issue entitled “New
blood in the Midi” included:
“Next on the tasting
table were the wines of
Les 3 Poules
– from the Christmas song involving Three French
Hens – the only one of the six
estates to be inherited, the others being recent creations
by people new to owning vineyards.
Gilles de Latude
is married to Ruth,
an Englishwoman who uses her maiden name in the business,
styling herself R. Parker.
The wines are a delight, all vins de pays, mostly
single varietal, with an exotic yet dry Vermentino,
a sappy Grenache rose and a raspberry-fragrant Cabernet
Franc, the perfect vins plaisirs at very friendly
prices.”

Guide | Hachette des Vins (2004 - 2008) |
| |
| Four years
running... |
 |
|
|
| |
One of the most
important wine reference books is "Le Guide
Hachette des Vins". It is the French wine bible.
To immense surprise and joy our first vintage of
“Les 3 Poules” Cabernet Franc 2003 was
awarded a “star” in
the 2004 edition. Click on image to enlarge >> |
|
|
| |
To win this prestigious mention after a first attempt
at winemaking was a tremendous boost to Gilles and
Ruth and convinced them that taking that major step
to produce their own bottles had been worthwhile.
A second star was awarded in 2005 and a third in
2006 edition of the Guide Hachette. |
